Malaysia University Ranking...(only in top5000)

This is the ranking for our universities in Malaysia as according to Webometrics, a well known Website to see ranks of many research institutions, and universities around the world. Well, as a Malaysian, of course this is extremely crucial for me and that should be put in mind by the government for the betterment of our own education system in Malaysia! Don't be confused! This ranking are based on 5 criterias which focus on the Research and Development (R&D) of a university by January 2008.Enjoy!

University Ranking in Malaysia (TOP5000 universities in the world)
* (university name) (World Rank)
1) Universiti Sains Malaysia 1065
2)Universiti Teknologi Malaysia 1087
3) Multimedia University 1155
5) Universiti Putra Malaysia 1236
6) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia 1357
7) Universiti Malaya 1381
8) Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia 1709
9) Universiti Utara Malaysia 1997
10) Universiti Teknologi MARA (My university) 2022
11) Universiti Malaysia Sabah 3316
12) Universiti Tenaga Nasional 3346
13) Monash University Malaysia 3527
14) Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS 3636
15) Universiti malaysia Sarawak 3721
16) Universiti malaysia Perlis 3968
17) Asia pacific Institute of Information Technology 4059
18) Universiti pendidikan Sultan Idris 4692
19) Universiti Tun Abdul Razak 4770
Thats it! these are the only universities and private institutions in Malaysia that are included in the ranking. Where is Universiti Tun Hussain Onn? Where is Universiti Selangor? I'm not trying to embarass these universities but trying to promote to the government here that we cannot have a one eye look on this. Universiti Malaya used to be TOP 10 in Asia as a research university. Whatever it is, I'm still proud of Malaysia as the country of my blood!

congratz for the DL thing. See you don't need any advice from me, which would be a total crap after all. Sigh.

Well, to me, ranking, like age, is just a number. How we behave actually show our class. @_@

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy but too much of play will turn Jack into a 'buoy'.Education is the greatest asset to a nation and is vital in nation building. The drop in ranking by some local renowned universities is a concrete evidence of a gradual deterioration of our educational system. The MOHE has to take some drastic actions to overcome the recent situation in its effort to promote Malaysia as an Educational Hub.Education is a mirror and a reflection of a country, as well as a yardstick in measuring its capability in upgrading the system of education and bring it to the eyes of the world. The MOHE,too, needs to place its priority and focuses on the baby-universities like Selangor Industrial University in order to help these babies to grow and walk together with other established institutions. To some, the rank is only a number. However, maturity must be in line with the number. The ranking is like a mirror and reflection of a country. It determines the capability of the respective country in ensuring the success of its system of education. It's crucial for all parties concerned especially the students to help improve the standard of our local varsities, so that, they will, too, stand as tall as other world top universities.A formula or mechanism needs to be designed to meet the demands of today's education.

I'm sorry to say that Webometrics ranking is based on web content only! Webometrics is not based on R&D as you stated in your post.

Thank you anyway.
