its a good thing that Malaysian government did something to the boxes....you know, putting pictures of whats gonna happen for us if we smoke....yerp its something.....but i dare say, its just something 'rather than nothing!'.....my point here is simple.....
The fact that the ministry wanted to increase people's awareness is good....
The fact that scary pictures were printed on the boxes are good.....
BUT!
what i can see is that THE GOVERNMENT is just making assumptions......another assumption to be added to 'say no to smoking' campaign....
1) they assume that people are gonna be scared by looking at those pictures and then stop smoking (haaa??)
2) They assume that people will know more on bad effects of smoking (yes they'll know, but will they want to be more careful on what goes to their lung? HELL NO!)
3) Will the approximately 20% of teenagers who started smoking every year will end???
Despite of the pictures.....They put this statement under them....for example, "smoking can lead to birth defect".....then so????????? this wont make people scared...yerp they may be scared for the first few minutes and then forget everything about it.....
WHAT we should put here is something that could make them think....the smokers to think and think and think........for example:
" DO YOU WANT TO SUFFER FROM LUNG CANCER??? instead of "SMOKING CAN LEAD TO LUNG CANCER"
Remember everyone, these so-called simple things DO make a difference!

bg aku dua2 statement tuh sama ja sbb dua2 tuh adalah kesan dr merokok dan for sure byk lg kesan len...
bg aku utk letak statement yg plg memberi kesan kpd diri perokok adalah sesuatu yg sukar, dr pengalaman aku la kan perokok tegar yg len even dah berpenyakit mcm2 masih tak boleh stop dr merokok....
tp for sure setiap kempen yg kerajaan buat tetap akan effect atleast some individu yg len,tp bg aku nak bg kesedaran kat perokok nih mmg hampir mustahil...
ia mcm hidayah...bila depa btoi2 nak stop bru bleh...
apa yg kita boleh buat adalah truskan usaha mcm kempen skrang then try to figure out lagi idea2 yg relevan n berkesan...
dan kita sama2 la klu bleh boikot n jauhi org yg merokok...
ala kira mcm buat2 meluat bila ada mmmber nak merokok..
tp klu let say,5 org time tuh mmber kita dok merokok tak yah la p buat marah2 n baut meluat..satg kita yg kena boikot...hik3
apa2 pun bgus gak kekdg perokok nih mcm mmber aku depa larang keras org yg nak try mrokok...
BG PEROKOK...KORANG NAK KA ANAK KORANG ESK CACAT N HUDUH MCM "TUT" DAH TUH OTAK LEMBAB BODOH MCM "TUT"...SO KLU TAKMAU STOP LA SKRANG!!!!

it is something that people called choice. just because one chooses to be a smoker doesn' mean he's terrible in a sense that he's lost. i'm a smoker myself but it is because i choose to be one under the circumstances that have lead me into becomming one of billions smokers in this planet.
i do admit, the newly designed boxes aren't gonna stop people from buying it. it is in fact made my favourite brand of cigarette looks horrible..
like i've said, it's one's choice, everyone has to respect it.
